In the United States, methamphetamine hydrochloride tablets are a prescription-only Schedule II (CII) controlled substance. Current U.S. labeling indicates use for the treatment of ADHD in pediatric patients age 6 years and older.

Uses
Desoxyn/methamphetamine hydrochloride tablets are prescribed for ADHD in children 6 years and older when considered appropriate by a healthcare professional. The medicine affects central nervous system signaling involving neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine.
Important Safety Information
Desoxyn has a high potential for abuse, misuse, and addiction. Misuse or taking higher-than-prescribed doses can cause overdose and potentially death. It should only be taken exactly as prescribed and must not be shared with another person.
Stimulant treatment can also increase blood pressure and heart rate and may cause other serious cardiovascular or psychiatric effects. Patients should be medically assessed and monitored during treatment.
Contraindications & Interactions
Methamphetamine hydrochloride tablets should not be used in people with a known hypersensitivity to amphetamines or product ingredients. They are also contraindicated with MAO inhibitors or within 14 days after stopping an MAOI because of the risk of a hypertensive crisis.Storage
